Yes, I am working now.  Even though I still have a great deal of pain I decided that I would give going back to work part-time a try.  Part of the reason I’m working is so I am able to get to Florida to be with my husband. I have been working as a home health aide for nearly two months now. I like my job.  I enjoy helping others in need. I really do think God has given me the grace to work with all the pain I have been experiencing. As much as I was praying for the Supreme Court’s decisions on the gay marriage and Obamacare cases to be different I wasn’t surprised by the rulings.  Eric Erickson in his latest article Mass Hysteria in America points out how in today’s times “Up is down. Down is up. Good is evil. Evil is good. Wrong is right, and right is wrong.”  He asks, Are you going to be ready to rebuild after the fires burn out?  The fight isn’t over.  We need to keep fighting for religious liberty rights. Charlie Daniels penned an open letter to President Obama. His message is loud and clear. It is a must read.

Happy Independence Day!!!

In honor of it being July 4 here is a poem on ‘The Republic’ from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O UNION, strong and great
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!
We know what Master laid thy keel,
What Workmen wrought thy ribs of steel,
Who made each mast, and sail, and rope,
What anvils rang, what hammers beat,
In what a forge and what a heat
Were shaped the anchors of thy hope!
Fear not each sudden sound and shock,
’T is of the wave and not the ro
’T is but the flapping of the sail,
And not a rent made by the gale!
In spite of rock and tempest’s roar,
In spite of false lights on the shore,
Sail on, nor fear to breast the sea!
Our hearts, our hopes, are all with thee,
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears,
Our faith triumphant o’er our fears,
Are all with thee,—are all with thee

Hope you have a happy and safe time celebrating Independence Day.

Everything in Time by Teresa Rice

Time is, time does what?

Time gone by

Time is here

Waiting for time to come

Time well spent

Time wasted

Time tells tales

Time hurts

Time heals

Time tick tocks over and over again

As we construct our lives in time.

Peace

Peace

Thou seek God’s mercy

We ask for forgiveness

Soothing of the soul for thee

We search for meaning

And yearn for peace

Within for eternity

Discerning God’s Will is a mystery

Panging of the heart

Feeling God’s love for thee

Seeking to know God’s Will

Faithfulness listening to God

Brings peace to you and me.

I enjoy reading and writing poetry.  About a week ago I started searching for Catholic, Christian, and Saints who have written poems.  So far, I have found some written by St. Therese of Lisieux. I am posting one of her poems below.

MY HEAVEN ON EARTH

To bear my exile now, within this world of tears,

The holy tender glance of Christ, my Lord, I need.

That glance, surcharged with love, consoles me through the years;

His loveliness displays foretaste of heaven indeed.

On me my Jesus smiles, when toward Him I aspire,

The trial of my faith then weighs no more on me.

That love glance of my God, that smile of holy fire,

Oh, this is heaven for me!

‘Tis heaven to have the power, great grace from Christ to win

For Holy Mother Church, for all my Sisters dear,

For every soul on earth that He may enter in,

Enflame our sinful hearts, and grant us joy and cheer.

All things my love can gain when, heart to heart, I pray,

Alone with Jesus Christ in speechless ecstasy.

Beside His altar blest with Him I gladly stay,

Oh, this is heaven for me!

My heaven within the Host safe hid and peaceful, lies,

Where Jesus Christ abides, divinest, fairest Fair.

From that great fount of love doth endless life arise;

There, day and night, my Lord doth hearken to my prayer.

When, in Thy perfect love (O moment blest and bright!)

Thou comest, Spouse most pure, me to transform in Thee,

That union of our hearts, that rapture of delight,

Oh, this is heaven for me!

My heaven it is to feel in me some likeness blest

To Him Who made me and my soul hath reconciled;

My heaven it is always beneath His eye to rest.

To call Him Father dear, and be His loving child.

Safe shielded in His arms, no storm my soul can fear;

Complete abandonment my only law shall be.

To sleep upon His Heart, with His blest Face so near,

Oh, this is heaven for me!

My heaven is God alone, the Trinity Divine,

Who dwells within my heart, the Prisoner of my love.

There, contemplating Thee, I tell Thee Thou art mine;

Thee will I love and serve until we meet above.

My heaven it is to smile on Thee whom I adore,

E’en when, to try my faith, from me Thou hidest Thee;

Calmly on Thee to smile, until Thou smil’st once more,

Oh, this is heaven to me!

I have been pretty sad today and am struggling.  I was going to write a post on the Holy Thursday readings, on Passover and on Jesus washing His disciples’ feet but I am having trouble with what to say in reflection on the two readings.  I came up with a poem. Didn’t know what to name but here it is.

Today sadness is in the air

I know God is *there*

But the road has been like climbing a mountain

Jesus made the hardest journey of all

Taking the road to Golgotha

In the ultimate act of love

Jesus died on the cross for all of us

Trying to give my pain over to God

In union with Jesus on the Cross

But I’m struggling so bad due to my loss

Some thoughts: The lesson in Exodus 12: 1-8, 11-14 is that God is always there for His people, for those who follow Him. God is there for us when we repent. He is there for us during our troubles. I know this. But for some reason today I feel so empty and down in the dumps today. Part of it may be the medicine I’m on because sometimes I feel like I need to cry but it feels like I can’t cry due to the medicine I’m taking.

I had a bit of an emotional morning. In the midst of looking for something else I came upon some information on adoption and tears started running down my cheeks.  After I had calmed down and collected myself words just started flowing in a way unexplainable. Here is one of the poems I created.

Life’s Detour

A long road I have been on
One that now has taken a bit of a curve
Not the end but a new beginning with truth beside us and light ahead
We know God is with us on our new journey
We are called to be strong people of faith in both good times and bad times
We follow God’s will as hard as it might be as we forge ahead on our new journey
We know that with God all things are possible

God knows us

He knows our joy and pain

Whether of the heart or the flesh

He Knows our triumphs and defeats

God Knows our needs

Our Father knows best

He calls us to prayer

He calls us to listen to Him

In faith we go to God on bended knee

Believing that He will answer our pleas

We are called to trust God’s will for us

Our Father knows best

This poem came to me as I was thinking about my recent health issues, my endometriosis pain.  I have made a huge medical decision and am taking a big leap of faith to trust in God’s will for me.  My husband Kevin and I have no kids but after dealing with endo pain for about 16 years, particularly having pain now not even one year after my last surgery to remove the endo, I have decided that I need to have a hysterectomy.  I cannot go on being in very, very bad to excruciating pain.  I just don’t think that’s the life God wants me to live.  Maybe Kevin and I are called to adopt a special Little One? I do believe that God has a plan for us as a couple. But, yes, it does break my heart that it has come to this.  I will be having surgery in mid-September.  God Bless.
