Don’t citizens as well as elected government officials have a right to know the backgrounds and associations (questionable or not) of unelected (appointed) government officials?

Well, by the way some people have reacted to Michele Bachmann’s questioning and examination of the State Department’s deputy chief of staff Huma Abedin’s background, beliefs, and associations one would think that the congresswoman had committed some horrible crime.

Oh yeah, that’s right, according to RINOS such as McCain, progressives, Democrats, and others who just want to get along for fear of offending others while continuing to have their heads in the sand she committed the ultimate faux pas in politics – Bachmann challenged the status quo and chose not to be politically correct at a time when political correctness is considered to be sacrosanct. She chose to put the security of our country over political correctness.

Do you think that it is legitimate to question any person’s political philosophy? If so, what is so wrong with questioning a person’s religious beliefs when that religion brings political implications along with it? Such as if the person’s beliefs are incompatible with our form of government and our constitution? If you think it is legitimate to question President Obama’s Communist ties why would you be opposed to someone investigating Huma’s family ties to Muslim Brotherhood organizations and/or operatives? Is it for fear of being labeled ‘Islamaphobic’? When the Muslim Brotherhood follows the same methods and philosophies as other organizations that are declared terrorist organizations? There are certain religious precepts within Islam that are incompatible with our constitution so finding out whether or not Huma holds beliefs which are in opposition to our Constitution is a very important thing to know. If Huma’s beliefs are not aligned with that of her mothers that is great but if she does hold the same beliefs as her mother, ascribing to beliefs associated with radical Islam, doesn’t the American people have the right to know?

I know some of you are probably asking “but what about freedom of religion?” If that religion is not tolerant of other religions, does not believe in religious liberty, but believes in global dominance and death to anyone that insults that religion and is unwilling to coexist with people who practice other religions or those who don’t believe in any religion or even those who don’t believe in God’s existence, and wants to dismantle our constitution in order to replace it with Sharia – Islamic law – then as citizens of the United States we are called to oppose this type of philosophy which threatens the very existence of the United States of America. I am highly confident that the majority of Muslims who reside in the U.S. are peaceful, have been westernized to some extent, and are able to follow both their Muslim faith and the Constitution without seeing the two as being in conflict with one another.

This is one example of what Bachmann and the other signees wrote that the squishies and progressives have found so offensive is this:

“The [State] Department’s deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, has three family members – her late father, her mother and her brother – connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organizations. Her position affords her routine access to the secretary and to policy making.”

Now the Congresswoman has been criticized viciously by dhimmis who want to think that Islam is a religion of peace. I am not saying that all Muslims are violent but if you really think that a strict adherence to Islam is peaceful I would love to know what hole you’ve been hiding in the last 20 years or so. Strict adherence equals jihad. This is how Bachmann responded to Boehner and his ilk:

“Not once in the letter to the inspector general of the Department of State, as you summarize, was it stated that by extension (Ms. Abedin) may be working on the organization’s behalf. That her family members are connected to the Muslim Brotherhood has been reported and referenced widely in the Arab-language media, including Al-Hayat, The Arab Times and Al-Jazeera.”

Mychal Massie makes a good point:

If McCain and Boehner have such concern about not painting everyone with the same brush, why do they sit silently as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and extreme racist bigots like Jehmu Greene publicly attack whites with racial pejoratives? If they care about justice and fairness, why have they not demanded Eric Holder and Obama’s Justice Department prosecute members of the New Black Panther Party for voter intimidation and for deaths threats made against George Zimmerman?

More from Mychal:

July 20 I received a lengthy letter from a professional person who had called McCain’s office to protest his condemnation of Bachmann. The person who wrote me requested I not use his name. He spoke to a McCain staff person named Will (who refused to give his last name) at approximately 3:52 p.m. Eastern at 202-224-2235. Following is part of that letter shared with the author’s permission – the person wrote:

“I called chastising McCain for his comments chastising Michele Bachmann and four other [members of Congress]. I said we are in dire times and that we don’t need attacks like this within the party. The person on the phone commented that Bachmann’s attack on Huma transcended politics and that she did not have evidence to smear Huma’s name in front of the whole world. The man said there was no evidence supporting what Bachmann wrote about. I said Bachmann only asked questions. He said she didn’t have enough facts to ask those questions and that she defamed Huma’s name in front of the whole world. I said Bachmann didn’t smear Huma’s name, that she wrote the letters to government offices, not to newspapers. I said whoever released those letters and then made it a public issue are to blame.

“The man … said no, the person who wrote the letter is to blame for thinking such things. I said she wrote the letter as internal documents to other government agencies, and he said if she didn’t want everyone to read them she shouldn’t have written them. … This man blames Bachmann for asking question; he says Bachmann asked pointed questions about Huma and that as a congresswoman she shouldn’t have. … I mentioned Humas mother and father; he said … everything Bachmann asks about were unfounded. He said they were only directed at Huma because she was Muslim. He asked, should we look suspect at all Christians due to Timothy McVeigh being a Christian? I replied that Timothy McVeigh was not a Christian. The man argues that he was. … I say next you are going to tell me that Hitler was a Christian, and the man replies, ‘He was.’ I said, Hitler was not a Christian – and he replies, ‘Yes, he was sir.’”

There you have it. McCain’s office believes Hitler was a Christian … and we wonder why and how the Republican Party has become what it is.

Timothy McVeigh grew up as a Catholic. Then he wandered into the darkness and became either an agnostic or atheist, and he was either an agnostic or an atheist at the time of the Oklahoma City bombing.

So according to a McCain staffer we as persons are not allowed to think certain things, or to question anything even if something smells rotten in Denmark? How Orwellian of him. Geesh. Yet another reason that both McCain and Boehner need to be voted out of office. More people adhering to the “see no evil hear no evil” way of life. I was thinking the other day about the whole Ground Zero Mosque craziness. I found myself asking if this building of a mosque right on Ground Zero, where 3000 people lost their lives on 9/11, would be occurring if this ideology of Islam wasn’t a proclaimed religion? I have heard people who are okay with this mosque being built where so many lives were lost say that this wasn’t sacred ground before 9/11 as if events in history don’t change how we perceive and treat things and people in our life. Ground Zero is a mass grave site today. Was it a mass grave site before 9/11? Before that horrible tragedy happened on 9/11 the land was not a sacred place but nor had we endured a tremendous tragedy and the ground was not a massive grave site before that point in time, so would we have considered something to be sacred when there was no reason to consider it to be sacred at the time? Now the 9/11 site in New York is sacred so we should treat it as such. So, yes, in my opinion events do change our outlook on both life and history. If Hitler had knocked down the World Trade Center would there have been an argument over whether or not there should be a pro-Hitler or a white supremicist museum right where the World Trade Center stood?  Liberals’ notion of religious liberty is backwards and their belief that it is okay to have a mosque built right on the Ground Zero where those who claimed to Muslims (these were Muslims right?) while perpetrating violence while invoking the name of Allah is absolutely absurd and borders on psychosis IMO.

Now American Atheists have filed a lawsuit petitioning New York City to remove two steel beams which are formed in the shape similar to a cross and which were found at the Ground Zero.  It is an artifact.  The atheists believe that having an artifact which is shaped like a cross located in the World Trade Center museum would mean that the government would be “…endorsing one religion above all others”.  The atheists fail to recognize that this cross beam is much more than a religious symbol but also has an iconic cultural status because of the two beams attached to one another were found amidst the rubble at Ground Zero.  Even John Stewart takes aim at the American Atheists.  He said “That cross is an artifact. It was found at Ground Zero,” Stewart said. “It has come to mean something to people who view it as a symbol of comfort.” You can see the video here.

In John Carey’s post Friday Ramblings: The Truth can be a painful friend , he expressed his discontent at both the debt deal and Speaker John Boehner. He also asserted that he believes that “Speaker Boehner is part of the problem and that he needs to step down as Speaker of the House and someone should be installed in that position who stand by principle and advance the conservative cause.”   I disagree.  I think the painful reality is that with Democrats having control of both the Senate and the White House that unfortunately there is only so much the House Republicans can do to change the tide of politics as usual, the big government spendaholics policies, and tackling those insolvent entitlement programs.  Speaker Boehner stood firm until a few days before the debt ceiling was due to default.  Then he had to broker a deal with rigid Leftist ideologues.  Was this a good deal? No!  But in my opinion, this was the best deal that Boehner could have gotten under the circumstances.  If we had defaulted the media would have been blaming the Republicans 24/7  for the economic woes and this probably would have hurt the GOP’s chances to gain control of both the Senate and White House.  And only when that happens can the healing of our nation occur with true reform and rolling back of Obama’s massive regulations and big government policies.  Unfortunately perception overrides truth in this case.  According to polling voters think that Obama did a better job at brinkmanship with the debt ceiling negotiations than the Republicans when he was the most divisive of all.  He didn’t even propose a plan but yet people hear his shallow words and believe that he was willing to compromise, even when we know he wasn’t willing to compromise.  Republicans proposed at least two plans which passed the House in trying to solve the debt ceiling issue, our tackled debt issue and the Senate Democrats refused to negotiate or even allow debate or a vote on those pieces of legislation on the House floor but yet these progressives who were entrenched in their political positions, unwilling to compromise, and who played the class warfare card were portrayed as the reasonable ones by the liberal.  These progressives were in actuality the most unreasonable of all.  But, unfortunately, many voters bought the media’s portrayal of the Republicans.  More people are waking up each day to the liberal media’s lies and to the fact that this administration is hurting our country but we need to be careful not to alienate voters in 2012 so they don’t vote for the GOP candidate.

L.D. Jackson of Political Realities has a good post on the Department of Health and Human Services proposal that insurance companies be mandated to offer free contraceptives to women under Obamacare. Yes, that means that insurance companies would be financially responsible for doling out those contraceptives to women.  This would also mean that individuals could not opt out of paying for others’ contraceptives. But are the prescription contraceptives really only contraceptives?   Some so-called contraceptives work as early term abortifacients.  This mandate would also include abortion inducing drugs like Ella and Plan B which would violate the conscience protections and religious beliefs of those who believe that contraceptives are immoral and that abortion is the intentional killing of an innocent human being .   This is yet another example of the intolerance of liberals.  This whole mandate is tyrannical in my opinion and violates our constitutional religious liberties.  This needs to be challenged in court.  Hopefully after the Supreme Court hears the case challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare  it will be thrown out in the garbage heap of history.  Father Z has posted a response by Sr. Mary Walsh, RSM, on his blog.  I always love his commentary on the issues.

My emphases and comments:

HHS Makes In-Your-Face Effort to Undermine Constitution’s Religious Freedom

Health and Human Services must think Catholics and other religious groups are fools.

That’s all you can think when you read HHS’s recent announcement that it may exempt the church from having to pay for contraceptive services, counseling to use them and sterilizations under the new health reform in certain circumstances. As planned now, HHS would limit the right of the church not to pay for such services in limited instances, such as when the employees involved are teaching religion and in cases where the people served are primarily Catholic.

HHS’s reg conveniently ignores the underlying principle of Catholic charitable actions: we help people because we are Catholic, not because our clients are[Do I hear an "Amen!"?] There’s no need to show your baptismal certificate in the hospital emergency room, the parish food pantry, or the diocesan drug rehab program. Or any place else the church offers help, either.

With its new regulation, HHS seeks to force church institutions to buy contraceptives, including drugs that can disrupt an existing pregnancy, through insurance they offer their own employees. This is part of HHS’s anticipated list of preventive services for women that private insurance programs must provide under the new health reform law. Continued

Sr. Mary Walsh is spot on!

Maggie @ Maggie’s Notebook has a post titled Allen West Birthday Message To Obama, and in it West has a special message to Obama on his birthday.  I am reposting it here.

Allen West

“Happy 50th Birthday Mr. President! While surprises are for birthdays, it is no surprise to the American people that your failed economic policies –- from TARP to your health care bill–- have resulted in disaster for our economy. Since taking office, unemployment has remained at or near 9 percent for 28 months, America has added $3.4 trillion in debt in 29 months — the equivalent of about $4 billion per day — we have an anemic housing market with record foreclosures, and an average price of nearly $4 for a gallon of gas. Even your budget did not receive one single vote in the United States Senate — and the icing on the cake –- a stock market slide of nearly 800 points in the last 5 days.

While it may be hard to hear the American people’s frustration over the pop of the champagne corks and R&B bands at your $30,000/person birthday party, the citizens of this nation are suffering under your failed leadership. The best present you can give the American people will be for you and your failed economic policies to be defeated in November of 2012.”

Gotta love Allen West.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Carrie's Take

A virus is spreading throughout the world. It affects the comprehension and common sense portion of the brain and leaves its victims dumbed-down and easily herded by the propaganda masters and their political cult. Carrie’s Take strives to provide an antidote to the mind-control and hopefully will stir up memories of long ago when our society demanded truth & honesty in journalism and expected it to be the guardian of facts, rather than PR mouth pieces for self-serving politicians and their personal agendas. ~Carrie K.
