I found this information via Catholic Bandita.

Things are heating up in Michigan. Democrats threatened violence in response to Right-to-Work legislation, viaHotAir, and violence is indeed what we’re seeing. Watch as conservative activist Steven Crowder asks union thugs not to tear down the Americans for Prosperity Tent. The response to Crowder is violent, including a brutal sucker punch as he enters the AFP tent, near the end of the video.

In Deacon Keith Fournier’s article We Do Not Need Conservatism We Need A Classical Christian Revival he makes the case that citizens in America need to return to Godly principles, makes the case for a classical christian revival.  But Deacon Keith also claims that we don’t need conservatism. I agree that we need a classical christian revival but I disagree with him when he states we don’t need conservatism. I believe that many conservative principles go hand-in-hand with traditional christian principles so I don’t think that we should outright dismiss principles of conservatism.  Conservatives believe in the constitution – adhering to the constitution – and the constitution recognizes that as individuals we are granted certain rights by our Creator so this goes along with classical Christian beliefs. Let’s promote both classical christian and conservative principles.

Here is the article by Deacon Keith Fournier:

I am afraid we will be fooled again if, after this election, we buy the idea that conservatism is the solution to what is needed in this Nation – and in the West. The collapse of Western civilization will not be remedied by conservatism. Political movements alone are inadequate for the task.

WASHINGTON,DC (Catholic Online) – In the aftermath of the US Presidential election the Monday morning quarterbacks are out in full force. I write to address a deeper  concern. We must be wary of any attempt to equate a political label with being a Christian – including the label conservative.

Make no mistake, I am not a political liberal. Nor am I what is masquerading as a political progressive these days. I have long contended that there is nothing progressive about contemporary political progressives.

The judicial manufacture of a right to reach into wombs and kill our youngest neighbors is not progressive. Judicial and legislative efforts to give practicing homosexual paramours equal legal status to marriage is not progressive.

Denying the Right to the Free Exercise of Religion, the “First Freedom” in the American tradition, is not progressive. It is a threat to the very foundation of all of our freedoms.

Catholic Christians know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ demands a response which goes beyond the walls of our Church buildings. We are our brother and sister’s keeper. We do not reach out to people in need because they are Catholic, we reach out to people in need because we are Catholic.

No HHS regulation will compel us to violate our deeply held religious beliefs. Neither can a Presidential administration compel us to stop caring for the poor, the sick and the needy. Clearly, the next few months are leading to an historic Church/State showdown in the United States of America.

At a level much deeper than political labels, we are experiencing a clash of worldviews and competing definitions of human freedom, human flourishing, human progress and what constitutes a truly just and human social order. The positions espoused – and lifestyles affirmed – as progressive by some using the term as a political label turn the clock back on progress.

I will soon be 58 years old. In some ways I am still just an aging “former hippie” whose rejection of the misguided values of a consumerist, secularist, narcissistic, hedonist, instrumentalist and nihilist culture led me to re-embrace the Catholic Christian faith as the true alternative culture when I was a much younger man.

Recently, while in line at Starbucks for coffee, I heard a young couple comment on a CD offered for sale on the counter rack. It featured the best hits of the rock group “The Who”, taken from their long musical career.  The cover was a photo of the Who I remembered from when I first began listening to them.

The young man said to his girlfriend, “can you believe that is the Who. I can’t believe they looked like that.” I smiled and chimed in, “That’s them, I remember it well”. We all smiled.  However, as I left with my coffee I recalled the words from one of their songs which haunts me these days, “We don´t get Fooled Again.”

I really thought I was at peace with whatever the outcome of the election was going to be.  I thought that whatever happened I would be unaffected by it.  I would be mildly satisfied with a Romney win, and shake an Obama win off with a shrug.  Today I feel like the degenerate gambler who, after losing a hand with a lot of chips riding on it, says to himself, oh, gee, now I’m going to have to play for a lot longer to win back all my…hey…where are all my chips?  I was all in and I didn’t even realize that I had done it!  Last night I was very despondent.  Romney’s defeat hit me hard.  Last night I wept bitterly for my country.

My wife posted a major downer on Teresamerica.  I am reblogging it here, but that isn’t the end of it.  I also want to offer a way past the emotional pain and the disappointment, so keep reading past Teresa’s article.

Reblogged from Teresamerica:

Citizens Voted for the Death of America

I posted this on Facebook and thought I would share.

Americans voted for the death of America last night. They voted for malaise. America is screwed. Americans are so gullible to believe Obama’s lies. It is obvious that a majority of Americans are clueless about America’s founding, her history and want this country to topple like Rome did, and be overcome with debt like Greece. The Left’s Communist infiltration of America has worked. The Left’s gradual indoctrination of America has put voters in a trance oblivious to reality stuck in their bubbles in their own alternative realities, believing what they want to believe based on emotions, wanting false rights, believing the state has a right to coerce people to abandon their faith and conscience rights. The media has been complicit in this with having committed journalistic malpractice constantly covering up for Obama & Co in order to get their guy re-elected.

June 28, 2012, the day the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare, was the day America died.  Last night we buried Her.

To give you an idea how depressed I was this morning, – I helped compose that final line of Teresa’s post.   If anyone feels the way I did, I have something for you that might help you feel better and give you the strength to cope with four mote years of BHO.  I have been researching an practicing energy medicine and energy psychology techniques for the last couple of years.  They are weird and flakey seeming, but I am fascinated by them because, as bizarre as they are, they work!

I am a practitioner of EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques.   EFT is a technique that involves speaking affirmative statements while tapping your fingertips on acupressure points and focusing on a problem or area that you want to change, whether it be an emotional distress, a trauma, a phobia, or a physical pain.  EFT brings rapid and lasting relief for many problems and issues that you would never in a million years think that tapping on yourself would help.   I have mentioned EFT on this blog before, and I will be discussing this stuff more in the near future.  For now, I want to share a youtube video put out by Robert G. Smith, an EFT practitioner whose innovative streamlining of the acupressure tapping protocol he has dubbed “Faster EFT”.   In this video, Robert helps a guy who was very upset about Obama.  I think he was as emotionally invested in McCain’s bid for the presidency as I was (without realizing it) in Romney’s.  When I first saw this video, I laughed.  I found it amusing.  Not because tapping wouldn’t work.  I know for a fact it does.  I have helped many people with many problems, some of them quite serious, with EFT.  I’ll go over that in more detail in a future post (or series of them).  Let it suffice to say for now that I have used EFT to help friends, family, and colleagues at work with knee pain, back pain, laryngitis, mild fears, major  phobic reactions, and I helped a man with Parkinson’s dramatically improve his posture from a very pronounced stoop to much less of one.  So it wasn’t the tapping that made me laugh, strange as it admittedly looks.  I know that it works, so that isn’t what I found to be silly at  the time.  What made me laugh was that anyone could be so emotionally affected by the outcome of an election.  I am not laughing today.   Instead, today, I am posting the video.  Tap along if you need it.  Be surprised when it helps, and leave a comment.

Thank you very much Citizen Tom for bestowing me with The Food For Thought Award.  Citizen Tom created The Food For Thought Award and explains what it entails: “What’s The Food for Thought Award? How can we combine The Super Sweet Blogger Award with The Thought Provoking Blog Award? Well, when a Christian blog offers visitors wisdom from the Word of God, isn’t that blog providing its visitors food for thought? Ah ha! Thus was born a new award.”

Here are the rules:

  1. Post the award on your blog.  Done.
  2. Thank the one who nominated you and link back to their blog. Done
  3. Share seven of your favorite Bible passages. For extra points (Perhaps our Father in heaven will award them.), explain why each these seven passages is a favorite. Done
  4. Nominate seven other bloggers you admire and enjoy! Why seven? In the Bible, seven symbolizes completeness.
  5. Inform each person that you have nominated them.  Will pass on by tomorrow at 8pm.

Here are my seven favorite Bible passages:

Psalm 113: 7-9

He raises up the lowly from the dust;

from the dunghill he lifts up the poor

To seat them with princes,

with the princes of his own people.

He establishes in her home the barren wife

as the joyful mother of children.

This passage is very special to me.  After I returned home from having my hysterectomy  it hit me like a ton of bricks that I know longer had my reproductive organs. I struggled quite a bit due to the fact that Kevin and I don’t have any kids and because having the hysterectomy meant a huge loss, that there was no way I could have kids anymore.  After I prayed to God  and asked for His help to guide me to a scripture passage He led me to this one.

2 Chronicles 19:7 (RSV)

Now then, let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed what you do, for there is no perversion of justice with the LORD our God, or partiality, or taking bribes.”

This passage reminded of how people pervert justice and/or social justice today.

Luke 1:26-38 (RSV)

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.  And he came to her and said, “Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be.  And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,  and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.”  And Mary said to the angel, “How shall this be, since I have no husband?”  And the angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.  And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.  For with God nothing will be impossible.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Mary said the ultimate Yes to God following His will.  She is the perfect example for how we are to follow God’s will.  This is the beginning of Mary’s role as the Mother of God Incarnate.

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

I love the whole creation story but I picked this part of it because this is when God created man in his own image. He created man and woman.  God is the author of all of creation.

Deuteronomy 32:4 (RSV)

“The Rock, his work is perfect; for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and right is he.

God is indeed right and just.

Isaiah 53:5

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes we are healed.

This is a prefigurement of Jesus dying for our sins.  He made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Psalm 30:2

O LORD my God, I cried to thee for help, and thou hast healed me.

Our Lord is the great healer.  This passage really spoke to me because God has healed me.

Reblogged from The Camp Of The Saints:

Over at Breitbart, Mandy Nagy reports on the latest attempts by the Left to seek-and-destroy anyone who aids and supports the Right.

Her introduction:

The non-profit American Bridge 21st Century foundation, created by Media Matters founder David Brock, is launching a new watchdog group to delve deep into conservative groups and those who fund them. The Bridge Project will operate alongside the Democratic super PAC American Bridge, according to Yahoo News.

The Left continues the policies of bullying. No, the intolerant Left doesn't believe in respecting people who disagree with them on the issues. Progressives/Socialists/Marxists/Communists want to eliminate anyone who disagrees with their views. It is so sad how the U.S. has been infiltrated by Marxists, and at the highest levels of our government.

First came the horrid Supreme Court decision on the Arizona law at the beginning of this week and now heaven help us with the latest horrendous Supreme Court decision on Obamacare.  Most of Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law was struck down and Obamacare in its totality was upheld by the Supreme Court.  Both decisions are catastrophic for the cause of liberty.

The ruling on the Arizona law SB1070 was a devastating blow to states’ rights.  Plus, the one part of the law which was upheld the Obama administration made it abundantly clear that they  are unwilling to follow the rule of law and work with Arizona.  Basically the Obama administration and the Supreme Court let Arizona know that the state is on its own.  They are saying to Arizona: “You are not allowed to deal with the issue of illegal immigration even though there is a law on the books against coming to the USA the improper way and we are unwilling to enforce those laws since the more immigrants who cross the border the better it is for the Democrat Party.  To heck with the laws of the land.  We only will enforce the one’s we agree with.”

I haven’t read Justice Antonin Scalia’s entire dissenting opinion on the Arizona decision but the paragraphs that I have read are spot on.

From Yahoo:

The president said at a news conference that the new program is ‘the right thing to do’ in light of Congress’s failure to pass the administration’s proposed revision of the Immigration Act,” Scalia, a Reagan appointee, wrote in his dissent. “Perhaps it is, though Arizona may not think so. But to say, as the Court does, that Arizona contradicts federal law by enforcing applications of the Immigration Act that the President declines to enforce boggles the mind.

Arizona bears the brunt of the country’s illegal immigration problem. Its citizens feel themselves under siege by large numbers of illegal immigrants who invade their property, strain their social services, and even place their lives in jeopardy. Federal officials have been unable to remedy the problem, and indeed have recently shown that they are unwilling to do so. Thousands of Arizona’s estimated 400,000 illegal immigrants—including not just children but men and women under 30—are now assured immunity from enforcement, and will be able to compete openly with Arizona citizens for employment.

“Must Arizona’s ability to protect its borders yield to the reality that Congress has provided inadequate funding for federal enforcement—or, even worse, to the executive’s unwise targeting of that funding?” Scalia asked. Later, he added: “What I do fear—and what Arizona and the States that support it fear—is that ‘federal policies’ of nonenforcement will leave the States helpless before those evil effects of illegal immigration.”

The federal government “does not want to enforce the immigration laws as written, and leaves the States’ borders unprotected against immigrants whom those laws would exclude.”

When I heard the news that the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare let’s just say I was in shock and couldn’t believe it at first.  Especially since they didn’t strike down the insurance mandate.  Then when I was told that the justices who voted to uphold Obamacare inserted their own arguments in order so the law would be considered constitutional I became furious.  They rejected Obama’s lawyer’s arguments and inserted their own so that the law would be considered constitutional.  Obama argued that the penalty wasn’t a tax.  But the Supreme Court justices who upheld Obamacare made the case for the Obama govt. that the fine is a really a tax.  Geesh.  That doesn’t make sense.  Is definitely absurd.

Is this another nail in liberty’s coffin?  With Justices Alito, Scalia, and Thomas’s dissent in voting to strike down Obamacare they stood for liberty and followed the Constitution as our Founding Father’s instituted it in our nation.  The justices who upheld Obamacare did not follow the Constitution as it was envisioned by our Founding Fathers.  They are okay with interpreting the Constitution in their own way and remaking America into a different America which is less free with federal expansion and overreach into our lives.   Unfortunately the transformation of America into some socialists wet dream is taking place.  Sadly, that “shining city upon a hill whose beacon of light which guides freedom-loving people everywhere” as Ronald Reagan described the United States in his farewell address to the nation is dimming…. fading…. and quickly.   We have very little time to stop this nation from going further down the dark abyss of tyranny.  Both decisions, but especially the Obamacare decision, makes it an apparent necessity for citizens to vote out the big government freedom-hating Obama.  Libertarians, conservatives, independents, republicans, and democrats who love liberty must vote for Mitt Romney to stem the bleeding and start the recovery process to regain lost liberties.

Being open-minded does not mean that you’re supposed to let your brain cells pour out through a sieve and ignore reality, truth, and facts. Being open-minded does not mean being tolerant of those things which are harmful to our health and others’ health.
Today the term “open-minded” as it is used by progressives really means only being tolerant of the points of view that they agree with as well as tolerating opinions which run contrary to logic, fact, and truth while displaying intolerance of any views different from their own, e.g., those that conform to logic, fact, and eternal truth.  Being open-minded means making up your version of the truth to fit your own feelings and opinions.
If being open-minded means rejecting reality, truth, facts, and logic and exchanging those things for truth-denying opinions based on fantasy, an alternate reality, then I can gleefully accept not being labeled open-minded” by those who are open-minded like a sieve.
People who are okay with gay marriage, abortion, contraception, and euthanasia in the name of tolerance, compassion, privacy, and open-mindedness are going against the grain, rejecting God’s lawful authority over all creation and the divine prerogative to decide who lives and who dies, while believing in man-made laws born from opinions which are based on emotions are acting irrationally.
These people who claim to be open-minded and tolerant believe they know best as far as morality goes.  The so-called open-minded believe that their morality supersedes God’s laws.
According to those who claim to be open-minded anything goes all in the name of privacy because to them the choices they make only affect the person(s) involved in the decision-making process which tends to normally be primarily based on their feelings.
Is that true? Or simply an opinion based on emotion?
Let’s first start with homosexuality. Homosexuals claim to be all about privacy and for the right to do whatever they want in their bedrooms. There is no bedroom police coming after homosexuals in their homes. At least not that I know of.  Homosexuals are free to be hip having fun playing cornhole – sex – oooh love making – with each other. That is their prerogative if they wish to do so.  Homosexuals are free to engage in any sexual escapades they want to in their bedrooms.
But now homosexuals don’t merely want privacy.  They want to live out their homosexuality openly in public.
Somehow according to liberal logic privacy equals living out their homosexual lifestyle publicly. Doesn’t that defy logic? Opposites attract?
Homosexuals who at one time were calling for bedroom privacy are now demanding that they be permitted to marry not only demanding tolerance but full fledged approval from society for their openly homosexual lifestyle.
What happened to homosexuals being for privacy, left alone?
Homosexuals along with other open-minded individuals perception of reality gets a bit cloudy when they claim homosexual marriage is equal to that of traditional marriage – you know the meaning of marriage which has been around since the time of Adam and Eve, between one man and one woman.  Their claim is fallacious.
Is there even the remotest possibility that two lesbians or two homosexual men are able to procreate without the facilitation of the man-made up technological science of in vitro fertilization or artificial insemination? NO.
With 100 percent certainty I can say that there is no possibility that two homosexuals can be open to natural procreation.  God did not make it possible for that to occur.  Then we get the arguments from the Left what about the elderly or those who are infertile? In both cases each were able to be open to procreation naturally.  In the case of infertility it is still possible that God could make a way for the sperm and egg to meet and form a zygote so that an embryo could come into existence.  The elderly couple has experienced the natural cycle of life and while no longer able to achieve pregnancy when she was younger she had the ability to achieve pregnancy naturally so therefore she had the capability to procreate naturally.
Let’s go on to tackle both abortion and euthanasia at the same time.
The open-minded clamor for privacy over their own bodies. In the case of abortion pro-abortion women claim to have the right to kill another human being that’s living inside of them in the name of privacy.  These people need to murder an innocent human being to fulfill their so-called right to privacy? Wait… But I thought these people only wanted to have the right to privacy for themselves? I know I know, that liberal logic again. Somehow they consider having the right to kill another living human being equal to having their own privacy rights even though what they call their privacy is not limited to theirselves but in fact includes another living human being.
Then we have those who claim it is compassionate to kill the unborn baby especially when the baby has some sort of disability, disease, or genetic defect. These same individuals also claim that killing those persons who are sick, dying, or elderly is compassionate.  In that open-minded sieve-like brain of theirs somehow progressives believe that murdering a person equals compassion. I know another case of liberal logic defying reality.
I guess these same people believe that individuals who either physically or mentally handicapped should have never been born.  They demand for a purified humanity in a society without who they deem to be “undesirables.” Gee… That sounds familiar.
Progressives don’t believe that it is possible for individuals experiencing old age, illness, or disabilities to live meaningful lives.  Those who claim to be open-minded believe it is okay and even a better alternative for these people to be put down like a dog instead of truly showing them compassion by assisting these people in their time of need, treating them with dignity, as they go through the stages of life.
I suppose those individuals on the Left who claim to be open-minded but are either agnostic or atheists who reject God also don’t believe that there is the possibility that God’s healing touch will come upon those individuals who are experiencing old age, sickness, or a disability.
God is the author of life and He is the only one who has the authority to create new life and to take life. We must not act like pagan gods making up our own rules as we go along rejecting the One True God’s authority over all of creation. We are called to be faithful followers of God who believe in his rightful authority and who follow laws which are in accordance with God’s will, not man’s laws which run contrary to God’s laws.
“Merely having an open mind is nothing. The object of opening the mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid.”  - G.K. Chesterton

Is Obama’s war on coal going to hit your pocketbooks and/or wallets?

From Phil Kerpen:

Obama’s War on Coal has already taken a remarkable toll on coal-fired power plants in America.

Last week the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a shocking drop in power sector coal consumption in the first quarter of 2012. Coal-fired power plants are now generating just 36 percent of U.S. electricity, versus 44.6 percent just one year ago.

It’s the result of an unprecedented regulatory assault on coal that will leave us all much poorer.

Last week PJM Interconnection, the company that operates the electric grid for 13 states (Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia) held its 2015 capacity auction. These are the first real, market prices that take Obama’s most recent anti-coal regulations into account, and they prove that he is keeping his 2008 campaign promise to make electricity prices “necessarily skyrocket.”

The market-clearing price for new 2015 capacity – almost all natural gas – was $136 per megawatt. That’s eight times higher than the price for 2012, which was just $16 per megawatt. In the mid-Atlantic area covering New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and DC the new price is $167 per megawatt. For the northern Ohio territory served by FirstEnergy, the price is a shocking $357 per megawatt.

Why the massive price increases? Andy Ott from PJM stated the obvious: “Capacity prices were higher than last year’s because of retirements of existing coal-fired generation resulting largely from environmental regulations which go into effect in 2015.” Northern Ohio is suffering from more forced coal-plant retirements than the rest of the region, hence the even higher price.  More here

It looks like the coal numbers aren’t really the coal numbers, but may in fact a mirage coerced by the Obama administration upon the coal industry.  Nothing like fake numbers to prop up what is a failing economy to make it look good.  As many as 200, ooo blue-collar jobs may be threatened by the Obama EPA’s newest rule which strangles the economy.

In obscure, blue-collar towns across Appalachia — places that most Americans have never seen — generations of coal miners have toiled away at back-breaking labor to power American homes and industry. Now, as many as 200,000 of them who dig, process, transport and burn America’s most abundant fuel are threatened by EPA’s latest coal rule.
It imposes a standard for emissions that is all but impossible for many plants to meet. It requires coal-fired plants to release no more than 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt hour. More here
Religious leaders from different faiths – Mormons, Catholics, Jews, Baptists, Orthodox Christians and others – gathered on May 24 to organize a response to the looming threat against citizens religious liberty.

The Democratic Party is no longer the Party for the people.  It is run by mob rule today.
