To be honest I am feeling quite sad but I am not going to let my feelings get me down. Here is some of what’s been in the news recently. Yeah, I know its kinda weird but politics and news brings some cheer to me.
More doctors prefer Romney over Obama. In the survey that was administered it said that 15% of those doctors surveyed are switching their votes from Obama in 08′ to Romney in November. The major factor is Obamacare and the present administration refusing to take tort reform head on.
High school kids are protesting the new “one-size-fits-all approach to dining” in school cafeterias. More high school kids revolt over new federal lunch regulations.
I can understand preparing healthier food for school students but reducing the portions seems nonsensical IMO. I doubt the portions were that big to begin with.
A Philadelphia teacher compared a girl’s Romney/Ryan T-shirt to KKK attire and kicked her out of the classroom for wearing that shirt. That is utterly ridiculous! Disagree with her but don’t violate her freedom of speech. And don’t punish her for expressing her views which fall under the right to free speech. http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/04/high-schooler-kicked-out-of-class-for-wearing-romney-shirt/
Apparently a new anti-fracking film that Matt Damon stars in, which will be released in theaters in December, is funded by an Arab oil-rich nation. The movie is funded by United Arab Emirates.
From the Daily Caller:
A new film starring Matt Damon presents American oil and natural gas producers as money-grubbing villains purportedly poisoning rural American towns. It is therefore of particular note that it is financed in part by the royal family of the oil-rich United Arab Emirates.
The creators of Promised Land have gone to absurd lengths to vilify oil and gas companies, as Scribe’s Michael Sandoval noted Wednesday. Since recent events have demonstrated the relative environmental soundness of hydraulic fracturing – a technique for extracting oil and gas from shale formations – Promised Land’s script has been altered to make doom-saying environmentalists the tools of oil companies attempting to discredit legitimate “fracking” concerns.
While left-leaning Hollywood often targets supposed environmental evildoers, Promised Landwas also produced “in association with” Image Media Abu Dhabi, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Media, according to the preview’s list of credits. A spokesperson with DDA Public Relations, which runs PR for Participant Media, the company that developed the film fund backingPromised Land, confirmed that AD Media is a financier. The company is wholly owned by the government of the UAE.
So for some reason Matt Damon is against American oil and natural gas producers but is okay with Arab nations making bookoo bucks off of oil production. That makes no sense.
Pope Benedict XVI is getting ready to install two new doctors to the Church – St. John of Avila and St. Hildegard of Bingen. Awesome!!
More than nine months after Boko Haram, an Islamist terror organization in Nigeria, demanded that Christians immediately vacate the northern states of that African nation, Christians are continuing to be murdered while the government struggles to wage a campaign against the destabilizing guerrilla forces.
The most recent attack perpetrated by members of Boko Haram took place in the northern city of Bauchi, when a car bomb was detonated by its driver at the gates of St. John’s Church. For years, Boko Haram — a name which means “Western education is sinful” in the Hausa language — has waged a campaign of terror against the people of Nigeria in an effort to impose sharia law and to divide the nation between Islamic and Christian territories. As reported previously for The New American, the leadership of Boko Haram demanded in January of this year that all Christians immediately flee the northern states of Nigeria, which the Islamist organization believes should be inhabited only by Muslims. The demand came in the aftermath of Christmas Day bombings which killed dozens of people and left almost 100 wounded.
The September 23 attack on St. John’s Catholic Church was initially reported to have killed two people and wounded nearly 50 others; these figures were later adjusted to report four fatalities — not including the terrorist — with 48 wounded. The attack was the second such anti-Christian assault in Bauchi in one week.
Please everyone let us keep Christians in Nigeria and Christians being persecuted and experiencing violence in our prayers. May God please keep Christians safe. Let us pray:
The Light of God
The light of God surrounds us,
The love of God enfolds us,
The power of God protects us,
The presence of God watches over us,
Wherever we are, God is,
And where God is, all is well.
St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John,
Like unto the prophet Jonas, as a type of Christ,
Who was guarded for three days and
Three nights in the belly of a whale,
Thus shall the Almighty God,
As a Father, guard and protect me from all evil.
Grant me Protection
Grant, O Lord, Thy protection
And in protection, strength
And in strength, understanding
And in understanding, knowledge
And in knowledge, the knowledge of justice
And in the knowledge of justice, the love of it
And in the love of it, the love of all existences
And in that love, the love of spirit and all creation.
